A pizza delivery driver was threatened with rape and murder when she delivered food to a Sherman Street home, according to police reports.

The 22-year-old woman said a man answered the door about 10 p.m. Tuesday while she delivered a Papa John’s order. The man pulled her inside the door, knocked her to the floor, grabbed the pizza bag and demanded her money. He then told her to go upstairs and remain silent — and if she didn’t comply, he warned he’d rape and kill her.

After about five minutes, the woman said she heard no movement in the house and escaped to her car. She flagged down a Summit County sheriff’s deputy near Sherman and East South streets.

When police went to the house to investigate, the house appeared to be vacant, police reported.

The woman suffered minor injuries and was robbed of $20.

The robber, who had not been identified, was described as a 30- to 35-year-old black man, 6-foot-4 to 6-foot-7 tall and weighing 280 to 300 pounds. He had black hair shaved on the sides and blue eyes.

A second man was at the scene, the woman said. He was a 25- to 35-year-old black man, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-11 tall and weighing 160 to 180 pounds.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Akron police at 330-375-2490.
