Cedar Point may be able to tame the fiercest roller coasters, but it has once again met its match with the forces it can’t control.
The park had to close early Saturday night after a water main in the city of Sandusky disrupted Cedar Point’s main supply of water.
Crews worked through the night to repair the break.
The repair work continued on Sunday.
The park was able to reopen Sunday, but the water park had to close for the day.
Citing safety concerns as a result of the disrupted water supply, the park was also forced to close the Hotel Breakers and Sandcastle Suites. Guests were offered rooms at the Breakers Express or Castaway Bay hotels. Cedar Point announced Sunday night that the repairs have been completed and the hotels and water park will be open Monday.
This is the second time this season a calamity has closed the park.
In June a severe storm packing hurricane force winds toppled power poles leading into the park, trapping guests for hours. The park had to close for a day while repairs were made.
Another water main break in 2014 forced the park to close for two days.
Cedar Point carries calamity insurance that covers any loss of revenue should the park or its hotels have to close unexpectedly.
