SPRINGFIELD, Ohio: The case of a 16-year-old Ohio boy accused of killing his 14-year-old brother is being moved from juvenile court to adult court.
Court records and investigators say the Springfield teen told police he repeatedly hit his sleeping brother in the head with a baseball bat after an argument over Halloween candy, then stabbed him to stop the “noise” he was making after the beating.
Springfield police say the victim’s grandmother found him dead in bed on Oct. 31.
The Springfield News-Sun reports Clark County’s prosecutor says a juvenile court judge has decided to move the case to adult court to address the severity of the alleged crime and to protect the public.
Defense lawyers argued the case should be dismissed because of the teen’s age.
