What went right: Inside linebacker Chris Kirksey was one of the few bright spots. He had 10 tackles, including one for loss. It was the fourth time this season he’s compiled double-digit tackles. Wide receiver Terrelle Pryor had six catches for 131 yards.
What went wrong: The Browns stalled at the Giants’ 2 and 7 late in the second quarter, settling for Cody Parkey’s field goals of 20 and 25 yards and ultimately a 14-6 halftime deficit. The Giants scored touchdowns off lost fumbles by running back Isaiah Crowell in the second quarter and quarterback Josh McCown in the fourth quarter. They went ahead 20-6 when defensive tackle Johnathan Hankins beat right guard Alvin Bailey, strip-sacked McCown and defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul returned the fumble 43 yards for a touchdown with 10:58 remaining. The Browns surrendered seven sacks. The Giants entered the game ranked 29th in the NFL with 18 sacks.
The bottom line: Browns fans should celebrate Dec. 4 because they’ll receive a much-needed break from this dreadful season during the bye.
