Here’s the good news.

Temperatures will flirt with the upper 50s on Thursday.

The bad news?

First the other snow boot will have to drop and perhaps even blow away.

The National Weather Service warns a strong storm system will be pushing its way through the Akron area early Tuesday morning, bringing a short burst of snow and then freezing rain.

Temperatures are expected to start out in the 20s early Tuesday and slowly rise to above freezing by Tuesday afternoon. This means snow accumulating to about an inch is expected to fall before turning to freezing rain around the Tuesday morning rush hour.

The area is under a winter weather advisory from 3 to 11 a.m. Tuesday. Forecasters warn snow and ice accumulations could create “slippery roads” along with scattered power outages.

It will be windy, too, with southerly winds of 20 to 30 mph and “frequent” gusts as high as 50 mph expected.

A wind advisory will be in effect from 10 a.m. Tuesday to 1 a.m. Wednesday. The wind is expected to pick up around daybreak and continue through the day.

The weather service warns driving may become difficult, loose objects could be thrown around and tree damage could occur.

Those winds will bring warmer temperatures and rain Thursday with a high in the upper 50s.

Things chill back to the 30s on Friday, and snow is in the forecast for Saturday.
