A New Help Line aims to better connect Summit County residents addicted to alcohol, drugs or gambling with the best agency to assist them.

Callers to the Help Line, launching Tuesday, will be asked a few questions to determine which local treatment providers can best meet their needs. Once callers know their options, they can choose where they want to begin treatment. The Help Line staff will connect callers with the agency so they can make an appointment.

The Help Line number is 330-940-1133 and the hours of operation will be 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The Summit County Alcohol Drug Addiction & Mental Health Services Board (ADM) is contracting with Akron Summit Community Action for the Help Line.

“We recognize the importance of getting people the help they need in a timely manner when they are ready to start their recovery,” said Jerry Craig, executive director of the ADM board.

The ADM Crisis Center will still be available on a 24/7 basis to provide detoxification and drop-in services and treatment readiness groups. Call 330-762-6110 for a mental health emergency or 330-996-7730 for an addiction crisis.
