Hudson ranked as safest big community in Ohio

Hudson is the safest big community in Ohio, according to a new study.

The website ValuePenguin examined FBI crime statistics from 2014 to come up with a list of the safest places in the Buckeye State. It ranked 221 communities.

Hudson, located between Akron and Cleveland, was No. 1 for communities with populations over 20,000. Brunswick was fifth.

Brecksville topped the list of the safest mid-size communities with populations between 10,000 and 20,000. Brunswick Hills Township ranked second, New Franklin, fifth and Twinsburg, ninth.

Among small communities, those with populations between 5,000 and 10,000, Russell Township in Geauga County was first.

Akron ranked 210th among big cities in the Buckeye state; Canton was 215th.

Cleveland was last.
