Summit County Common Pleas Court is warning residents about a new jury scam happening in the county.

Residents have received telephone calls from people saying they are in law enforcement and requesting payment or personal information, according to a news release from Summit County Common Pleas Court Administrative Judge Amy Corrigall Jones.

The caller refers to a discrepancy regarding jury service and demands payment to clear up the matter.

Law enforcement won’t call residents about jury duty or require payments for jury service.

Residents should not provide the caller with any personal information. Instead, make note of any identifying information about the caller and then notify local law enforcement. Residents who already provided information to a caller are urged to take steps to protect their identity, according to the release.
