SUGAR CREEK TWP.: A 21-year-old Akron woman was killed and two men were injured Monday night when a motorist struck a deer and lost control of the vehicle on U.S. Route 62, according to authorities.

Madhu M. Magar died at the scene and the two men, who were all employees of Case Farms, were taken to local hospitals. Magar and Kumar Rai, 21, were passengers in a vehicle driven by Dilli Mangar, 29. The men, both of Akron, were seriously wounded and transported to local hospitals.

The Canton post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported Mangar was driving a 2007 Honda Civic at about 6:35 p.m. when he struck a deer crossing the roadway. He lost control of the vehicle and swerved off the right side of the road, striking a tree.

Rai was the only person wearing a seatbelt.

Alcohol is not believed to have contributed to the crash, which remains under investigation.
