The executive director of Summit County’s public bus system has been placed on leave and was escorted from his office this week.
Richard Enty, the Metro Regional Transit Authority’s executive director and secretary-treasurer, is on paid administrative leave.
His employment has not been terminated, spokeswoman Molly Becker said.
Becker declined to say why Enty was placed on leave and referred questions to attorney Karen Adinolfi. A call to Adinolfi’s office was not immediately returned.
The Metro RTA board has scheduled a special meeting for 8 a.m. April 19 “to discuss a personnel matter,” according to the bus system’s website. No further information was available.
Enty has served as Metro RTA’s executive director since 2012, when he succeeded former Director Robert K. Pfaff, who died from cancer.
Enty worked for the Greater Cleveland RTA from 1977 to 2007 in a variety of positions, including light rail operator, transportation planner and, finally, planning team leader from 2000 to 2007. He held a variety of positions, including interim general manager of Lorain County Transit, until his appointment in November 2011 as director of Metro’s planning and development.
Enty served a five-day suspension without pay in 2013 after turning himself in for texting while in a Metro vehicle.
Enty told the Beacon Journal at the time he realized he had a texting problem when a bus pulled next to him as he texted. He reported the violation to the board, which acted at its next regular board meeting.
