GRANGER TWP.: The intersection of Granger and Ridge roads will be closed for 70 days when construction of a roundabout — originally scheduled for 2016 — begins in the near future.

Township trustees set aside $2.5 million at their meeting earlier this week to pay for the project. Fechko Excavating, Inc. is the contractor.

The official detour for those traveling northbound on Ridge Road (state Route 94) will be state Route 18 east, then north on State Road to northwest on Coddingville Road to Beachler Road, turn left on Wilbur Road then return to Ridge. Southbound traffic will reverse the route.

The official detour for those traveling eastbound on Granger Road will be to go south on Beach Road, take Route 18 to State Road, turn left, and return to Granger Road. Westbound traffic will reverse this route.

In another project, the Ohio Department of Transportation notified trustees on April 11 that a bridge over a branch of Rocky River, on Remsen Road, will be replaced this year.

The location is between Allardale Park and Allardale Lodge. Shelly & Sands is the contractor.

The road is expected to be closed for 60 days. No start date has been provided.

Trustees were asked to give their opinions regarding the detour route for this project. Eastbound traffic would go north on State, east on Everett Road and south on Medina Line Road.

Westbound traffic will reverse this route.

Trustees asked that video also be done on Allard Road because some drivers might use that road, and if there is damage to the road, trustees could need the video to make a claim to ODOT.

In other news, Zoning Secretary Marie Yambor resigned. She was in the position for about 5 years. Marsha Reber who has served as administrative assistant for the township for the last year and a half, will become the new zoning secretary, effective June 1. She will serve in both positions.

Also, trustees announced that the front porches on the historical society home at 1261 Granger Road have been replaced.

Costs were shared by the township and the historical society.
