BARBERTON: High school Assistant Principal Henry Muren is moving up to the school’s top job.

The Board of Education agreed Wednesday to hire Muren, who has been second in command at the high school since 2013, as the school’s new principal.

He will replace Principal Jeff Ramnytz who has been named superintendent.

Muren is a 1989 Barberton graduate and has spent his entire educational career with the district. He previously taught math. He was honored as a Sam’s Club Wal-Mart Teacher of the Year in 2003.

He also served in the Ohio Army National Guard from 1991 to 2012, and completed his service at the rank of platoon sergeant.

“I am excited for the new challenge, and looking forward to continuing popular and effective initiatives like Do Your Job and becoming even more technology based at BHS,” Muren said in a prepared statement.
