Get groovy with the Beatles

The Beatles famously quit touring in 1966, citing the hysterical, out-of-control crowds that greeted them at every stop. Boomers can relive those days, and younger folks can discover that shrieking girls have been greeting bands of cute boys for decades, with the new documentary The Beatles: Eight Days a Week — The Touring Years. It’s showing at the Nightlight in downtown Akron at 7:30 p.m. Monday, 6:30 and 9:15 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday. Tickets are $9, $8 children and seniors. www.nightlightcinema.com.

Get educated on internet safety

A forum on internet safety, including sexting, cyberbullying and human trafficking, will be held at 7 p.m. at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1250 W. Exchange St. in Akron. This is geared toward students in grades 7-12. Speakers will include Summit County Juvenile Court Judge Linda Tucci Teodosio, Summit Deputy Chief Assistant Prosecutor Margaret Scott, Becky Moreland, executive director of Rahab Ministries, and Jan Apisa from Victim Assistance. For information, call Pat Santelli at 330-283-8009.

Discuss the future of cursive

Is cursive really going to disappear? Cleveland author Anne Trubek will discuss her book The History and Uncertain Future of Handwriting at 7 p.m. at the Hudson Library & Historical Society. She’ll describe the cultural impact of handwriting, from the advent of Sumerian clay tablets to current discussions about writing and typing, and what the next phase of communication may look like. Reserve a seat at www.hudsonlibrary.org.
